Oplev det smukke land og få indblik i Reikis oprindelse og den buddistiske betydning for den gamle healingstradition. 

Besøg både storby, bjerge, klostre og landsbyer og mærk på egen krop den helt særlige energi og transformation. 

Reiki Historie og Oprindelsestur, maj 2026

Da jeg selv kom hjem fra Japan i oktober sidste år, var jeg slet ikke i tvivl om at jeg skulle afsted igen. Det var en stor og meget transformerende oplevelse at møde det smukke land og få indblik i den kultur og oprindelse, der ligger bag vores Reiki tradition. Reikiforsker Dr. Justin B. Stein og jeg har sammensat et program, der både viser dig Reikis oprindelse og vigtige lokaliteter, samt giver dig et godt indblik i japansk kultur. Vi kommer både til at være i store byer, oppe i bjergene og langt ude på landet.

Justin Stein vil være vores historiske guide både hvad angår Reiki, såvel som Japan. Han har boet og studeret i Japan og underviser i asiatiske studier på universitetet i Toronto. Bortset fra det er han et utrolig rart og positivt menneske. Der vil være en japansk guide med os alle dage, til at hjælpe med det praktiske omkring hoteller, transport, og adgange til templer mm. Min rolle som reikimester er at holde energien og oversætte fra Justins engelske hvis nødvendigt. Der er for eksempel planlagt guidet selvhealing, og meditation på Kurama bjerget, som jeg står for.

Guided tour of Higashiyama (eastern part of Kyoto)
-Walk through Gion to Yasaka Shrine and the Buddhist temples Chion-in and Shōren-in

Lunch in Higashiyama (not included)

Those who wish to rest can return to the hotel but those who are interested can continue to Sanjūsangendō
Dinner (not included) 

Those who wish to join can participate in a Reiki share at a Buddhist temple (note: depending on our host, this may actually occur later in the tour)

Thursday, May 14 – Calligraphy lesson in Kyoto, travel to Gifu

Breakfast at Hotel (included)

Our group will receive a lesson from a Japanese calligraphy master in Kyoto  (note: we are still reserving this and it may actually occur later in the tour) 

Private bus to Gifu city, near Usui-sensei's birthplace, lunch en route

Lunch and sightseeing in Gifu, including The Great Buddha of Gifu (Gifu Daibutsu)

Those who are interested can take the ropeway up to Gifu castle (near our hotel)

Soak in the hotel's onsen (hot springs)

Friday, May 15 – Taniai

Breakfast at Hotel (included)

Visit Amataka Jinja, Usui Mikao’s family shrine, where he and his brothers donated a stone torii (gate)

Optional: Participate in a Shinto purification ceremony at Amataka Jinja

Lunch at a local restaurant with members of the Taniai Reiki Society

Participate in a Reiki share with members of the Taniai Reiki Society

Private bus takes us back to Kyoto

Free evening in Kyoto, dinner on your own

Saturday, May 16 – Kurama 🗻🚠

Breakfast at Hotel (included)

Climb Mt. Kurama, where Usui-sensei had the spiritual experience that led to his founding Usui Reiki Ryōhō 

Optional: a cable-car that goes about halfway up the mountain, close to the major temples, if you need some help

Picnic lunch on the mountain, self-treatment and Reiki circle at the site of Usui-sensei's meditation

Optional: participate in a blessing ceremony at Kurama Temple, soak at Kurama onsen

Free evening in Kyoto

Sunday, May 17 – Kyoto to Mt. Kōya

Breakfast at Hotel (included)

Today we travel to Kōyasan, another sacred mountain that is the heart of Shingon Buddhism, Japan's esoteric sect.

Note: it's possible that we do the calligraphy lesson this morning before the bus (instead of on May 14)

Private bus will take us to Sekishōin, a beautiful Buddhist temple where we will stay in traditional Japanese rooms (futon & tatami mats)

Lunch en route

Justin will explain how Reiki's initiations and use of symbols are influenced by practices like those of Shingon, as well as basic Shingon practices.

Dinner - Buddhist (vegetarian) dinner served at the temple (included in tour price)

Monday, May 18 – Kōyasan

Optional: early morning Buddhist ceremony at Sekishōin

Breakfast at Sekishōin (included)

Visit Kongōbuji, the head temple for Shingon Buddhism, said to be the center of a mandala comprising all of Japan

Lunch in Kōyasan town 

Visit Okunoin, the ancient, enchanting forest cemetery where Kūkai, Shingon's founder, is said to be in eternal samadhi

Bus drives us back to Kyoto

Praktisk informatin

Den planlagte rejse starter 12. maj og slutter i Kyoto d. 20. maj. Det er muligt på egen hånd at fortsætte til Tokyo og bruge et par dage ekstra, for at besøger Usui senseis grav og kejser Meiijis tempel. Det er ret nemt at rejse i Japan, og jeg tog selv den tur sidste år og kommer gerne med anvisninger og anbefalinger hvis I ønsker det. I tilfælde af at der er flere danske deltagere der ønsker at fortsætte til Tokyo, vil jeg eventuelt tage med og være til rådighed den første dag.

Denne rejse er som udgangspunkt planlagt til danske deltagere. Vi har sat et max antal deltagere ved 16, ud fra Justins anbefaling. Pladserne bliver afsæt efter hvem der kommer først, og jeg ved at Justin har flere interesserede stående på venteliste til hans næste tur. Så først og fremmest bliver pladserne fyldt op med danskere, men derefter bliver der åbent for reikifolk fra andre lande. Når du har betalt depositum til er din plads sikret. Restbeløb skal betales senest marts 2026. 

Du skal selv sørge for transport til og fra Japan, og jeg hjælper gerne med anbefalinger. På den måde har du mulighed for at forlænge din rejse før eller efter den arrangerede gruppetur.

Priser og rejsebetingelser

Tour fee includes:

  • All accommodations 🏨🛌
  • All transportation from start to end of tour (including trains, buses, taxis, etc.) 🚃🚉🚌🚖
  • 8 breakfasts & 4 dinners 🍣🥢🍜
  • All entrance fees for the temples and shrines ⛩️🏯
  • Justin's services as guide during full tour 🤓
  • The services of a professional Japanese tour guide during full tour (required by law for certain parts of our trip) 🙇

Tour fee does NOT include: 

  • Your airfare and transportation to / from the Kyoto hotel where the tour begins and ends
    • Japan is a very modern country with lots of foreign tourists and there are several transportation options from the airports to Kyoto, all of which are reasonably priced, clean, and user-friendly
  • All meals not mentioned above
  • Optional activities: Shinto blessing ceremony in Taniai (¥2500 JPY, about $20), Kurama onsen, etc.
  • A tip for the Japanese tour guide (~¥2000 JPY)

Fees, Deposits, & Payment 💰

  • To reserve your spot, send $300 USD to Justin via PayPal (steinjustin@gmail.com). Please send your deposit as "Friends and Family" or else Justin has to pay fees... if you want to send it as "goods and services" for whatever reason, please add an extra $10 to help cover the fee.
  • The remaining balance will be paid directly to the travel agency via a link that you will receive via email
  • The final cost of the trip is determined by how many people enroll. If we have:
    • 10-14 guests, the remaining balance (after the deposit) is ¥506,900 (Japanese yen) per person
    • 15-16 guests, the remaining balance (after the deposit) is ¥439,200 (Japanese yen) per person
    • please note that the trip will be capped around 16 guests as when I've led larger groups in the past it has been a bit too much
  • The standard fee is based on a shared room (either a twin, with two beds, or a double, for couples sharing a bed). There are a limited number of single rooms available for a supplement of ¥45,000 Japanese yen. If you are interested in the possibility of a single, please let the organizers know so we can work it out with the travel agency. 

Guest Information and Dietary Restrictions

  • After you send your deposit, we will be in touch to find out some information that the hotels and restaurants need to make our reservations, including your passport numbers, flight information, and dietary restrictions.
  • Many restaurants and accommodations in Japan have difficulty catering to dietary restrictions. It is absolutely necessary that we receive everyone's dietary restrictions before the final reservations are made.

Refund / Cancellation Policy:

  • If the trip has to be canceled, all deposits will be fully refunded. 
  • If the trip proceeds as scheduled but you have to cancel for any reason, we will refund your deposit so long as we are able to fill your spot. 
  • In the event of cancellation, the organizers are not responsible for any additional travel expenses incurred. 
  • These are the travel agency's rules for refunding the money payable to them:
    • Payment is due 45 days before the tour starts (which is March 28, 2026, but since this is a Saturday, please make your payment by Japanese business hours on Friday, March 27)
    • Requests for refunds received up to 46 days before the date of arrival (March 27, 2026) will be fully refunded
    • Requests for refunds between 30 and 45 days before the date of arrival will be refunded 70%
    • Requests for refunds between 15 and 29 days before the date of arrival will be refunded 50%
    • There are no refunds starting 14 days before the date of arrival (April 28, 2026).
    • All cancellation notices must be sent to the travel agency (info@windowstojapan.com). Notices will be counted during the travel agency's normal working hours, 10:00 - 18:00 JST, Monday-Friday. Notices received outside of these working hours (or on holidays) will be considered as being received on the next working day.
